Making Memories: Ocea's Tea Party

Let me begin by noting that I don't know much (or anything really) about blogging. This is my first attempt at sharing anything I've done with the public other than Facebooking with friends.

I wanted to share my recent experience of planning and hosting a Tea Party for my little girl Ocea, who just turned 2 years old. I have 3 children, 2 boys, Bodhi and Taij, who are 10 and 6, and then there's my adorable little girl Ocea. I hope I don't come across as having a favourite child because I adore all 3 of my children, but the experience of finally having a little girl to pretty up and do girly things with is just wonderful!

Anyway, I was flicking through one of 'Donna Hay's Kids Issues' when I came across a beautiful little girls tea party which gave me the idea to host a tea party for Ocea's 2nd birthday.

The day of the party turned out to be extremely wet, causing the yard, where we were hosting the party, to be like a sinking mud pit, but....there was no time to make any changes so we went ahead with it. Yes we all had wet, muddy feet, but the party was still a hit! I didn't get to decorate as much as I had hoped because of the weather, which was a little disappointing, but everyone tells me it still looked great.

I made labels for all the bottles, cups and party bags using the same print as the wrapping paper I found and used on the table as a table runner so that it all matched.

The girls were each given a little cupcake holder to fill with lollies from the lolly buffet.

The little tea cups were filled with Strawberry Jelly.

Pineapple and Coconut Cake.

We had Cupcakes, Lemon Pikelets, Jelly Cups, Fruit Cups, Mini Sandwiches, Mini Sausage Rolls, Strawberry Melting Moments and a Pink and White Lolly Buffet of Musk Sticks, Strawberry Mushrooms, Jelly Beans, Meringues, Marshmallows and Mini Wafers.

The party bags had adorable little white lace umbrellas which the girls just loved and worked really well in all the photos.

The girls had Strawberry Milk, Pink Juice and Raspberry Punch.

The Lolly Buffet was definately a hit.

I tried to stick to the colour scheme as much as I could even with the sandwhich selection, but of course had to make it kid friendly. There was Turkey & Cranberry, Avocado, Cream Cheese, Ham and Jam.

Don't know how this black pot ended up in my colour scheme, was a last minute vase choice I think.

For the entertainment I made Ribbon Sticks from leftover ribbons, so the girls were able to dance and twirl around to music, and gave out little bottles of bubbles for the girls to use.

We also set up a playhouse (using a camping tent) full of dolls and toys for the girls to play in. I made a coloured paper dollie, by dipping the white dollie's in food colouring, and gluing them together onto a string of rope, which hung on the playhouse to pretty it up a bit.
